UiPath’s annual State of the Automation Professional Report revealed that 2024 was the year of AI integration and usage, with 90% of automation professionals using or planning to use AI within the coming year.
“In the past year, the data from our survey shows progress with technological discovery and preparation for AI and automation. Automation professionals are benefiting greatly from taking a leap forward with specialised AI and GenAI integrations in their automation projects, with even more capable agentic AI workflows on the horizon,” said Agi Garaba, chief people officer at UiPath.
Based on a survey of 1,909 automation professionals and students, the report revealed increased productivity is the primary motivation behind integrating AI into workflows (66%). Further, automation professionals are using AI to write code (67%), create documentation (57%), and for testing (47%).
State of the Automation Professional Report
The report revealed that a significant 70% of automation professionals are positive to staying in the industry for the next five years. The majority (86%) believe their automation career will be a solid foundation for any future career plans.
Most respondents (60%) said their organisation has used software automation for over 5 years.
Further, the report revealed that AI is embedded in automation processes, with 81% of respondents saying they use the technology in their automation projects at least a few times per week, if not daily. However, it's important to note that 19% of professionals are still grappling with the challenge of incorporating AI in automation.
