According to Sophos’ Cybersecurity Playbook for Partners in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), developed in collaboration with Tech Research Asia, AI-augmented cyberattacks are considered the most worrying cyber threats for organisations in Singapore.

However, only 28% of surveyed organisations are confident they have the skills to deal with such threats, and just 24% admit having a comprehensive AI and automation strategy.

Addressing skills gap

The report also revealed that almost half (45%) of organisations in APJ consider outsourcing, and 49% plan to train and develop in-house skills through partner-supported training and education to address the skills gap.

“The ongoing prevalence of cyber threats has forced organisations to address a variety of their cybersecurity measures,” said Cameron Reid, director of Channel Sales MSP at Sophos Asia Pacific and Japan.

Demand for MSP

The report showed that most (80%) of Singapore organisations expect an increase in their cybersecurity budget and plan to invest in third-party managed security services in the next 12 months.

“Since adversarial behaviours are always evolving, it is essential that organisations get the support they need to address all aspects of cybersecurity and continue to consistently evaluate and maintain strong defences against the latest cyberattacks,” added Reid.

MSPs (managed service providers) have an opportunity to win and maintain business by presenting their strong technical cybersecurity skills, knowledge of the threat landscape, and an ability to help customers and prospects stay secure to focus on their business operations and goals,” Reid said.
