GitHub announces the general availability of GitHub Copilot, a copilot customised to the organisation’s codebase. GitHub Copilot integrates generative AI into the editor to boost productivity and employee experience.
Conversational and customised
GitHub Copilot Enterprise claims to gain a deeper understanding of an organisation’s unique code and streamlines code navigation and comprehension. It provides code summaries, recommendations, and answers to queries about code behavior.
The solution also integrates chat directly into GitHub.com, enabling fast responses to queries using natural language. It can also review pull requests faster with generated pull request summaries.
Exploring developer’s curiosity
“As the technology landscape continues to rapidly evolve, we are expanding capabilities of GitHub Copilot to not only understand your internal knowledge bases but to bring in the latest information from the internet as well,” Thomas Dohmke, CEO at GitHub, said.
Bing search is directly integrated into Copilot Chat to update users on the latest software development-related information, like CSS or JavaScript frameworks updates. The Github executive said it is available in beta for GitHub Copilot Enterprise.
“This means GitHub Copilot can now help your developers explore their curiosity and gain outside knowledge near instantly, at scale,” Dohmke added.
