PT Gramedia Asri Media (Gramedia), Indonesia's largest bookstore, has introduced Zebra Technologies Corporation's RFID-enabled retail solutions at its stores. These solutions aim to enable shoppers to perform self-checkout and help minimise shrinkage.

"Zebra's RFID solutions have improved our overall shopping experience by enabling faster, independent transactions, reducing human error, and minimising losses with the establishment of RFID-enabled exit gates," said Agus Yulianto, IT manager, Gramedia.
RFID-enabled retail solution
Zebra's RFID-enabled retail solution helped the bookstore cut itsinventory checking time in half and make self-checkout for shoppers 60% faster than manual checkout by cashiers. This enabled a 75% redistribution of staff hours , allowing employees to focus more on customer service and other shopper-valued activities. The solution also claimed to improve the bookstore's stock accuracy by 50%.

"The retail market in the Asia Pacific region is poised for significant growth, with sales expected to increase by 24% from 2023 to 2028, driving 57% of the total global retail sales growth," said Christanto Suryadarma, sales vice president for Southeast Asia (SEA), South Korea and Channel APJeC, Zebra Technologies.
