International Data Corporation (IDC)’s recent report has highlighted a shift in enterprise cloud priorities across Asia Pacific, with organisations moving beyond basic migration toward more advanced capabilities such as modernisation, digital sovereignty, sustainability and generative AI adoption.

IT services in APAC

The findings derive from IDC’s latest MarketScape assessment of 12 IT services providers across APAC, focusing on Microsoft Azure-related professional and managed services.

IDC’s assessment of aggregated customer feedback suggests that vendors in the region generally executed well on complying with existing or new regulations, helping modernise/manage/optimise enterprise data ecosystem on Azure, providing an appropriate and high-quality team for the project, and supporting digital sovereignty-related requirements on Azure.

However, customer feedback suggests that vendors are falling short in several areas, such as reducing admin/vendor management costs, rewarding client loyalty, offering flexible pricing models and options, and helping customers expand into new markets/geographies.

The report also found wide disparities in customer feedback among vendors, where providers can further differentiate their capabilities in the market:

  • Reward client loyalty
  • Represent client requirements/concerns to the hyperscaler (Microsoft Azure)
  • Help customers expand into new markets/geographies
  • Identify and implement options for growth

In the vendor assessment, HCLTech was named a Leader for its ability to deliver end-to-end Azure services in complex enterprise environments.

“Across the Asia/Pacific region, Microsoft Azure continues to gain traction as enterprises prioritise modernisation, resiliency, and efficient cloud operations. To fully capture that value, however, enterprises must identify and engage with Azure services partners that can execute with consistency, agility, and domain depth,” says Pushkaraksh Shanbhag, associate research director, IDC Asia/Pacific.
