Hong Kong CIOs to prioritise AI, cybersecurity, and digital resilience in 2027

In 2027, Hong Kong’s CIOs and CTOs are increasing efforts to balance digital sovereignty, regulatory compliance, and international connectivity as technology demands rise.

As a global financial hub and gateway to Mainland China, Hong Kong continues to face complex cross-border data governance requirements involving the city’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, China’s Cybersecurity Law and the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Government initiatives and the 2026–27 Budget are accelerating the adoption of agentic AI and enterprise technologies. In response to ongoing cyber threats and changing regulations, IT leaders are strengthening security, improving compliance agility, and focusing on measurable returns on technology.

Talent shortages in AI, cloud computing, and cybersecurity have made workforce development a priority, prompting organisations to upskill local talent and attract global expertise.

Forging Future Advantage

At the 4th Annual FutureCIO Hong Kong Conference 2026, themed “Forging Future Advantage,” industry leaders will discuss strategies to accelerate digital maturity, address regulatory changes, strengthen cybersecurity, demonstrate technology ROI, and integrate AI responsibly into business operations.

Sessions will also cover how organisations can renew their talent ecosystems and develop resilient, sustainable technology strategies.

The conference will convene CIOs, CTOs, and senior IT decision-makers from technology operations, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, applications, data analytics, cloud management, cybersecurity, technology risk, and data protection.
