Chung-Ang University (CAU) in South Korea has integrated DeepL Pro into its Advanced Interpretation & Translation Program (AITP) to prepare students for the increasing use of artificial intelligence in professional translation.

“Our goal is to give students the opportunity to experience technologies used in the translation industry before they graduate,” said Junho Lee, professor of Korean-English Translation at the Advanced Interpretation & Translation Program, Graduate School of International Studies, Chung-Ang University.

Lee added: “With DeepL, students can experience a broad range of translation workflows through an integrated platform, while DeepL’s continued introduction of new capabilities allows us to bring current developments in translation technology into the classroom. Integrating DeepL into our curriculum helps students understand how to make effective use of AI alongside their own linguistic expertise.”

AI-powered translator education

The initiative makes CAU the first institution in South Korea to introduce the platform for educational use in a professional translation and interpretation program.

Introduced in March 2026, DeepL Pro is now used in all AITP classes. Students can explore AI-powered translation workflows alongside traditional computer-assisted translation tools. This integration provides practical experiencetechnologies they astudentsikely to use in their future careers.

“AI is transforming how people work across languages, including professional translators, and the industry is moving quickly,” said Jarek Kutylowski, founder and CEO of DeepL. “It’s important that the next generation has opportunities to work with these technologies as they develop. Through our collaboration with Chung-Ang University, students can build practical experience with Language AI, understand its impact on the industry, and learn how to use it in ways that complement their own unique judgement and linguistic expertise.”
