Huawei unveils AI-driven network and computing innovations at MWC Shanghai

Huawei introduced AI-driven network and computing innovations at MWC Shanghai 2026 to help telecom operators capitalise on the growing demand for AI-powered services and token-based business models.

David Wang

Huawei deputy chairman and rotating chairman David Wang said, “With each generation, we have pushed the limits of spectral efficiency and performance. Network architecture has gradually flattened, with new application scenarios and services emerging left and right. This has consistently expanded the boundaries of communications, helping carriers translate network capabilities into commercial value.”

Range of innovations

Huawei released a wide range of innovations in collaboration with China’s three major telecom operators during the event:

  • SERVICES: Technological and 5G-A high uplink and experience monetisation, AI-powered business upgrade, and token monetisation.
  • INFRASTRUCTURE: Huawei launched the AI-centric target network, which helps carriers enhance competitiveness in byte and token monetisation.
  • Advancing 5G-A experience monetisation and making 5G-A an integral part of installed base operations, to retain mid-range and high-end users, increase average revenue per user (ARPU), and meet user needs for sustainable revenue growth. With over 100 million users worldwide now connected to 5G-A networks, Huawei said the rapid growth of AI agents and applications such as AI glasses, personal assistants, and multimodal services will drive demand for high-uplink, low-latency, and highly reliable networks.

Huawei also plans to expand AI-native autonomous network technologies with global telecom operators to improve network operations, energy efficiency, and customer experience, while enabling new AI-driven consumer and enterprise services.
