Just 53% of Singaporean talent are willing to reskill to stay relevant for the AI era

According to the Decoding Global Talent 2024 report, only 53% of Singaporean talent are willing to reskill to stay relevant in the AI era, lower than the 63% recorded across Southeast Asia.

The report found that Singaporean talent would consider reskilling only if necessary (41%). Moreover, 40% remain unfamiliar with the capabilities of GenAI.

Roadblocks to embracing GenAI

Some 37% of Singaporean talent cite challenges such as difficulty writing prompts and lacking skills as a significant roadblock to fully leveraging GenAI.

The report revealed that Singaporean talent focuses on reskilling traditional skills such as analytical skills (46%), functional and job-specific skills (35%), and project management (27%).

Singaporean talent also aims to advance digital skills like software development and AI (22%) and understand new trends like AI and advancement in science (19%).

“AI’s impact is undeniable, and it is essential for both individuals and employers in Singapore to start taking proactive steps in reskilling and future-proofing our workforce,” said Vic Sithasanan, acting managing director of Jobstreet by SEEK in Singapore.

Decoding Global Talent 2024

Decoding Global Talent 2024 is a new report by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), The Network, of which Jobstreet by SEEK is a part, and The Stepstone Group.

The report studied the responses of more than 150,000 talent across 188 countries.
