SBS Transit has partnered with IBM to improve its asset management systems with generative AI technology for its rail operations and maintenance projects.
Jeffrey Sim, group CEO of SBS Transit, reassures: “Our combined solution, backed by reliable AI and Generative AI technologies, uniquely empowers us to use our data smartly, to drive higher rail reliability and efficiency that will serve our passengers well.”
AI-powered solutions
The public transport operator will leverage the IBM Maximo Application Suite (MAS) and integrate it with its Intellectual Property assets to enhance efficiency and decision-making in maintenance activities. By combining AI technologies, advanced monitoring, and predictive maintenance solutions, IBM aims to empower SBS Transit’s engineers and technicians with almost real-time data and predictive insights.
Tan Siew San, general manager and technology leader of IBM Singapore, underscores: “Currently, there are 4.7 billion commuters globally who rely on the proactive operations delivered by IBM Maximo to shuttle between destinations. Transport operators increasingly need AI and analytics to efficiently monitor, manage, and maintain their assets to provide the best passenger experience. To enhance this experience and make public transportation more efficient and convenient for commuters, the industry needs to anticipate problems and increase diagnostic accuracy proactively.”
Tan added that IBM commits to help more organisations build operational efficiencies with trusted and responsible AI to reach their business goals.
Looking forward
Sim looks forward to extending this solution to rail projects overseas under their parent company, ComfortDelGro. He hopes the initiative will further promote Singapore’s world-class public transportation system.
