Business leaders anticipate an unprecedented rate of change in 2024 after experiencing an all-time high rate of change in 2023, according to Accenture’s Pulse of Change: 2024 Index.
“In 2024, a pivotal juncture for businesses in Southeast Asia is marked by a buoyant economic outlook. Reinvention becomes a crucial differentiator for thriving in this climate,” said Ng Wee Wei, Accenture's Southeast Asia market unit lead and senior managing director.
Technology disruption
The global survey of more than 3,400 C-suite executives (including 790 in APAC) revealed due to advances in generative AI, technology disruption increased the most in 2023, rising to No. 1 from No. 6 in 2022.
The Index indicator analysis found that across Technology, Talent, Economic, Geopolitical, Climate, and Consumer & Social, the rate of change globally has risen 183% over the past four years and 33% in the past year alone.
APAC insights
In the Asia Pacific (APAC), around 85% of leaders in APAC anticipate an even faster rate of change in 2024. More than half (57%) see change as an opportunity, and 74% of leaders in APAC expect an acceleration in revenue growth in 2024.
However, more than half (55%) of APAC leaders admit not being fully prepared to respond to the change they will face in the 2024 business landscape.
Continuous reinvention
“We believe that the companies that will succeed in the next decade are those that embrace a strategy of continuously reinventing every part of their business using technology, data, and AI, including harnessing the power of generative AI and ensuring their people are at the center of their transformations,” adds Wee.
