Adobe introduced a new generative AI-powered conversational engine in Reader and Acrobat. AI Assistant in beta claims to instantly generate summaries and insights from long documents.

“Generative AI offers the promise of more intelligent document experiences by transforming the information inside PDFs into actionable knowledge and professional-looking content,” said Abhigyan Modi, senior vice president of Document Cloud. “

New capabilities

With the new solution, users can take advantage of an AI Assistant that can recommend questions based on the content of the PDF. It can also answer questions about the contents of the documents through an intuitive conversational interface.

Users can also obtain a generative summary to understand the content of long documents. AI assistants can provide short overviews in easy-to-read formats. The answers of AI Assistant are verifiable through intelligent citations generated by Adobe’s custom attribution engine and proprietary AI.

“PDF is the de facto standard for the world’s most important documents, and the capabilities introduced today are just the beginning of the value AI Assistant will deliver through Reader and Acrobat applications and services,” adds Modi.

Beyond PDF

Aside from PDF, users can also maximise the capabilities of AI Assistant with all kinds of document formats, including Word, PowerPoint, and meeting transcripts.
