“Real-world environments do not wait for connectivity or cloud round-trips. This collaboration is about ensuring that AI-powered decisions happen at the moment and place they are needed most,” said Ken Lu, CEO and Chairman of Winmate Inc.

Boosting sovereign edge AI for defence, critical infrastructure

The collaboration aims to advance secure, deployable AI capabilities at the edge, where real-time decision-making, operational reliability, and data sovereignty are critical.

The partnership combines Winmate’s expertise in rugged computing platforms across sectors such as defence, transportation, maritime, healthcare and industrial automation with Blaize’s AI inference technology.

The collaboration will focus on integrating AI inference and software into rugged computing systems, jointly developing next-generation edge AI platforms, and creating validated architectures for deployment in field environments.

Potential use cases

Potential use cases include border security and surveillance, mobile command-and-control units, crewless aerial and ground vehicles, maritime monitoring, and protection of critical infrastructure assets. The companies also cited portable AI-enabled diagnostics for remote healthcare environments as a key application.

“The future of AI is not defined by raw compute – it is defined by intelligence that is deployable, efficient, and secure at the point of action. Blaize was built for exactly this moment: bringing programmable AI inference to the edge environments where performance constraints are real, and the stakes are high. Winmate’s rugged platform expertise makes this partnership a strong foundation for what defence and critical infrastructure customers need today,” said Dinakar Munagala, CEO of Blaize, Inc.

The MOU establishes a non-binding framework for strategic collaboration, with definitive agreements still subject to further negotiations between the two companies.
