Cloudflare, Inc. has introduced Cloudflare Basin, a data platform that gives developers and enterprises a simpler, more cost-effective way to build data-driven applications.
Built on Apache Iceberg and Cloudflare R2, Basin offers teams an open, serverless solution to ingest, store, catalogue, and query analytical data using their existing tools.

Dane Knecht, CTO at Cloudflare, said: “With Cloudflare Basin, we are bringing the same serverless model that developers expect from Cloudflare to analytics: no clusters to manage, no unnecessary data movement, and open standards that keep customers in control of their data.”
Cloudflare Basin
Cloudflare Basin stores data in an open, industry-standard format that any compatible tool can access directly, without copying, converting, or vendor lock-in. Cloudflare’s network performs collection, organisation, and analysis on demand, with no dedicated servers to manage and no data transfer fees.
Basin provides customers with the following capabilities:
- Data ownership: Data is stored in Apache Iceberg, an open, industry-standard format, allowing teams to analyse it with any compatible tool and avoid vendor lock-in.
- No server setup required: Basin operates on Cloudflare’s global network, letting you ingest, store, and query data in seconds without provisioning or managing infrastructure.
- No data transfer fees: Querying data across different clouds, platforms, or regions incurs no transfer fees.
“We moved our entire company’s data pipeline to Basin Pipelines, Catalogue, and SQL,” said Dax Raad, co-founder of Anomaly, creators of open-source AI coding agent OpenCode. “We replaced a complex AWS S3 and Athena setup with a cleaner, serverless architecture that reliably handles all of our event data.”
