AI and automation technologies emerged as the top priority for IT leaders in budget planning for 2025–2026, according to a poll during the 3rd Annual FutureCIO Conference Malaysia.

Supporting this momentum, the Malaysian government commits to becoming a regional AI and digital hub through a series of major investments announced under its 2026 budget.
These include RM2 billion for the Sovereign AI Cloud, RM5.9 billion for AI research and commercialisation, RM53 million for the Malaysia Digital Acceleration Grant, RM18 million for the National AI Office, and RM30 million to enhance cybersecurity capabilities.
The budget also introduces incentives, including a 50% tax deduction for SME AI and cybersecurity training.
