Databricks announced a partnership in the Series A funding of Mistral AI to offer Mistral AI’s open models natively integrated within the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform.
Open-source models
Prem Prakash, head of AI/ML Product Marketing at Databricks, said they have already seen nearly 1,000 enterprises leverage Mistral models on Databricks since the beginning of the year, making millions of model inferences. The partnership was a natural next step for the company to offer customers the tools and flexibility with open-source models.
Through the partnership, enterprises can access Mistral AI’s models in the Databricks Marketplace, customise models through adaptation, and leverage Mistral AI’s models for generative AI applications. Mistral AI’s open models, such as Mistral 7B and Mixtral 8x7B are fully integrated into the Databricks platform.
“Now, we’re offering a streamlined experience that will make it even easier for customers to natively access, customise, deploy, and govern Mistral AI models for their generative AI applications," Prakash said.
Democratising AI
Arthur Mensch, founder and CEO of Mistral AI, expressed his delight in forging a strategic alliance with Databricks to democratise AI. He said the partnership reaffirms their “shared commitment to the portability, openness, and accessibility of generative artificial intelligence for all.”
“By seamlessly integrating our models into Databricks' data intelligence platform, we are advancing our shared mission of democratising AI. This integration marks an important step in extending our innovative solutions to Databricks' vast customer base and continues to drive innovation and significant advances in AI. Together, we are committed to delivering accessible and transformative AI solutions to users worldwide," Mensch said.
