Seagate launches HDD for edge security capacity and performance

Seagate® Technology Holdings launched the new Seagate® SkyHawkTM AI 24TB hard disk drive (HDD) for the video and imaging applications (VIA) market to address the increasing needs of the edge security industry for mass data.

Seagate® SkyHawkTM AI 24TB

Seagate’s SkyHawk AI 24TB is an advanced video-optimised drive designed for network video recorders (NVRs) to address organisations’ demand for efficiently storing and accessing massive data sets. It is also AI-enabled for edge security applications and equipped with advanced systems to analyse and record video footage while supporting GPU analytics.

SkyHawk AI supports up to 64 HD video camera streams and 32 additional AI streams. It is built for NVR environments with AI for running edge security applications. It also supports 10,000 hours of video and analytics, and heavy workloads of AI-enabled 24/7 surveillance systems. Moreover, Seagate’s powerful ImagePerfectTM AI firmware ensures zero dropped frames.

SkyHawk AI’s up to 2.5 million hours of mean time between failures (MTBF) and a 550TB/year workload rate—three times that of standard surveillance hard drives and up to ten times more than desktop hard drives make it highly reliable.

SkyHawk Health Management

Seagate’s SkyHawk Health Management tool is compatible with NVR systems to monitor environmental and usage conditions and recommends necessary preventative actions. The feature also includes RAID RapidRebuild to rebuild volumes up to three times faster than standard hard drives.

The drive includes a five-year limited product warranty and three years of Seagate’s Rescue Data Recovery Service.
