Tembusu Law, a Singapore-based firm specialising in Criminal Defence and Divorce and Family Law, has launched a 24/7 AI-powered WhatsApp assistant to answer legal enquiries outside regular office hours.

The AI line comes at a timely moment, as the firm’s data shows 57% of legal enquiries arrive after office hours.

“Nobody schedules a crisis for Tuesday at 11 AM. It happens on a Friday night, and then there is a weekend of not knowing,” said Jonathan Wong, founder and principal lawyer of Tembusu Law. “What people need at that hour is usually not legal advice. It is orientation. What happens next? Can this wait until Monday? That is information, and there is no reason it should only be available in office hours.”

WhatsApp assistant

Tembusu Law’s WhatsApp assistant explains divorce and criminal defence processes in Singapore, including police interviews, uncontested divorce timelines, personal protection orders, charges, and bail. It uses curated Singapore-specific materials and does not provide case-specific advice or predict outcomes.

The assistant can also identify situations involving arrest, ongoing investigations, family violence, or an upcoming court date within seven days. Individuals in immediate danger are advised to call 999. A free 10-minute discovery call connects users to a lawyer.

“The problem at 2 AM is not that there is too little information,” said Wong. “There is far too much of it, and none of it knows anything about Singapore procedure or about you. A machine can explain a process. It should not be telling somebody what to do about their own case.”
