A Sourcefit survey has revealed that fewer than 7% of offshore professionals are concerned that artificial intelligence will negatively affect their roles.
“These professionals are using AI, and it is making them better and more confident in their jobs,”said Andy Schachtel, founder and CEO of Sourcefit. “When your offshore team and your onshore team have access to the same AI tools, the gap in output quality narrows. AI is actually an equaliser between local and offshore staff. The offshore team becomes more competitive, not less.”
AI for offshore workers
Based on findings from nearly 2,000 employees working in client-managed teams across four countries, including the Philippines, the study has revealed widespread AI adoption with over half (52%)using AI tools daily or several times per week, and 74% using AI at least occasionally.
The study also found that 68% said AI tools improved their productivity, and most said AI would support, not replace, their work but enhance it. Top use cases for AI include writing and documentation (36%), research and analysis (30%), and customer support (14%).
According to the study, the largest barrier to adoption is limited access to tools (30%), followed by security concerns (20%).
It has also revealed high confidence in AI, with 66% feeling confident using it daily; 3% reported discomfort using AI tools.
Lastly, the study found that offshore workers consider AI as augmentation. Some 41% believe AI will support their role without fundamentally changing it, while 7% believe AI may reduce or eliminate parts of their role.
