2024, the year of AI integration and usage, report finds

Automation and AI software company UiPath’s annual State of the Automation Professional Report revealed that most (90%) automation professionals are using or planning to use AI within the coming year, making 2024 the year of AI integration and usage.

Automation professionals are benefiting greatly from taking a leap forward with specialised AI and GenAI integrations in their automation projects, with even more capable agentic AI workflows on the horizon,” said Disaree Wong, regional vice president and general manager of Hong Kong and China at UiPath.

Business automation and AI

The report found that increased productivity (66%) is the primary motivation behind integrating AI into workflows. Automation professionals are utilising AI in writing code (67%), creating documentation (57%), and testing (47%).

“The combination of business automation and AI holds incredible potential to transform organisations, increasing productivity while empowering these critical professionals to take their careers to the next level. It is important for Hong Kong businesses to recognise that and maximise the potential of their employees to achieve digital transformation and generate greater business value,” Wong said.

Growth and maturity

The report also found that 61% of global respondents said their organisation had increased its software automation workforce in the past 12 months and that 81% believe it will hire additional automation professionals in the coming year.
