Hillary Plank is a Director, Advisory, in the Gartner Marketing and Communications practice. She provides research-backed guidance and advice to Communications Executives with External Communications mission-critical priorities.

This includes supporting executives who are working on projects such as: differentiating the corporate brand, building out the corporate narrative, strategically aligning reputation to business outcomes, changing perceptions, crisis communications, communications related to CSR or ESG, navigating PR and media efforts and measuring the impact of external communications initiatives.

Plank brings perspective to communications leaders from over a dozen years of studying and advising on consumer insights. Prior to joining the Communications advisory team, she advised marketing and communications leaders on strategy related to Consumers, Culture and Customer Experience.

She has deep experience translating the behaviours of specific generations and demographic groups and has worked closely with healthcare brands.

She has led and authored research with application to a range of marketing and communication strategies and created and delivered workshops that served to not only inform but inspire.

As a passionate teacher of research and insights, she's not only focused on why people do what they do, but more importantly, what brands can do to create communications that are meaningful to their target audiences.
