FAR.AI has opened its first international office in Singapore to foster collaboration on practical AI safety research in the region and serve as its Asia Centre of Excellence.
“Singapore is a natural home for FAR.AI’s first office outside the United States,” said Edward Yee, FAR.AI’s chief growth officer. “It has the technical ambition, institutional depth, and serious commitment to responsible AI that our work requires.”
Practical AI safety research
FAR.AI has worked with Infocomm, the Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore, on joint events for the Singapore AI ecosystem. They have expanded their partnership to examine advanced AI systems risks and promote AI safety.
“This collaboration is part of IMDA’s efforts to deepen understanding of frontier AI capabilities and risks for evidence-based policymaking and responsible AI innovation in Singapore,” said Arisa Siong, director for Tech Policy, BizTech Group, IMDA.
Moreover, the independent research company and the National University of Singapore (NUS) AI Institute have developed ongoing research ties. FAR.AI’s focus on technical safety aligns with NUS Professor Mohan Kankanhalli‘s research.
FAR.AI has also collaborated with the Cybersecurity Agency (CSA) of Singapore on agentic AI security research, including the discussion paper “Securing Agentic AI,” presented at the Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW) in 2025.
