Gamification and cyber security education for Gen Z workers

As traditional methods of cyber security training may no longer resonate with the youngest workforce, Check Point Software Technologies posits that gamification, the application of game-design elements in non-game contexts, is particularly effective for engaging and educating Generation Z (Gen Z).

Benefits of Gamification

Gamification entails many benefits, including enhanced engagement, as Gen Zs are used to interactive and engaging digital experiences that pique their attention and interest. It also offers realistic simulations in a controlled and educational environment and provides immediate feedback on success or failure.

Gamification also increases motivation with points, badges, and leaderboards, fostering active learning, collaboration, and social learning. Game creators can customised gamification platforms based on individual learning styles and paces, often involving problem-solving, strategic thinking, and decision-making.

“To stay vigilant against threats such as phishing, it is important that all employees, from Boomers to Gen Zs, learn to verify senders, scrutinise recipient lists, be mindful of unusual subjects or timing, avoid unfamiliar attachments or links, and beware of messages demanding urgent action,” reminded Law.
