Huawei and HP Inc. have signed a multi-year global patent cross-licensing agreement covering certain Huawei Wi-Fi patents for use in HP Inc.’s computers and peripheral equipment.

Global patent cross-licensing agreement
The agreement builds on an earlier partnership in which HP Inc. obtained a license to Huawei’s Wi-Fi 6 patents. Under the new agreement, HP Inc. will be licensed to use additional Huawei patented technologies covered by the cross-licensing arrangement in its products.
Huawei Wi-Fi patents
Huawei reported contributing to multiple generations of Wi-Fi technology, including Wi-Fi 6 technologies such as OFDMA, multi-user MIMO, spatial multiplexing, BSS colouring, and target wake time. Additionally, the company also made Wi-Fi breakthroughs, including multi-link operation, multi-RU per STA, and preamble puncturing.
Huawei currently holds more than 165,000 active granted patents worldwide and has signed more than 260 patent licensing agreements with major ICT vendors in the United States, Europe, Japan and South Korea.
In 2025, it signed 34 new patent licensing agreements, 22 of them with Fortune Global 500 companies. In the same year, the company invested CNY192.3 billion in R&D, equivalent to about 21.8% of annual sales revenue.
