The Ministry of Digital and Google Cloud has launched “AI at Work 2.0,” a joint initiative to equip public officers to transform public service delivery with Google Workspace’s latest generative AI (gen AI) capabilities.

With its first iteration launched in December 2024, the enhanced and scaled iteration grants 445,000 public officers access to Google Workspace with Gemini.

YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, minister of Digital, said: “Through AI at Work 2.0 by NAIO and Google Cloud, the government is taking the lead in harnessing gen AI, with the right guardrails built in, to better serve the rakyat under our five-year AI technology action plan.”

Benefits:

Google Workspace with Gemini benefits public officers by generating contextually relevant content and richer meetings through Gemini in Google Workspace apps like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet, and Chat.

The joint AI initiative also aims to provide creative support while streamlining repetitive tasks like coding, data extraction, and analysis; and employee and citizen communications through Google Vids, a new AI-powered video creation app integrated with Drive and Photos.

It also helps synthesise and extract insights from multiple information sourcesthrough NotebookLM Plus, a gen AI-powered research assistant.
