Keppel has selected Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its preferred cloud provider. Both companies will collaborate to accelerate AI and machine learning adoption across Keppel’s operations through its AI Platform, which will be built using Amazon Bedrock.
The agreement entails Keppel supporting AWS with its infrastructure requirements, such as providing AI-enabled data centre capacity and access to renewable energy projects.
Manjot Singh Mann, CEO of Connectivity at Keppel, said: “This collaboration drives innovation in connectivity, sustainability, and AI, delivering carbon-efficient solutions that support AWS’s global goals while enhancing Keppel’s technological offerings.”
Advanced data centre infrastructure and connectivity
Keppel will work with AWS to expand its sustainable data centre infrastructure globally by identifying suitable land for new data centres, following data centre design standards, and providing low carbon or access to renewable energy to power the data centres.
Keppel will also collaborate with AWS to improve its network connectivity through subsea cable systems.
AI and sustainability innovation
The two companies will collaborate on energy-related technologies, including net-zero or low-carbon power generation and energy storage solutions.
Keppel and AWS are also collaborating to accelerate generative AI innovation. This includes a series of workshops to design an AI Platform, which will be built using key AWS services. The platform aims to serve as a central hub for existing and new AI use cases.
“This strategic agreement with Keppel marks a significant milestone in our commitment to sustainable digital innovation across Southeast Asia and beyond,” said Jeff Johnson, ASEAN managing director at AWS.
