Kong Inc. announced the integration of Insomnia 13 with Kong Konnect, the unified API and AI platform, to automate API workflows across discovery, testing, and deployment.

“AI is only as effective as the context it has access to,” said Marco Palladino, CTO and co-founder of Kong. “By integrating Insomnia with Kong Konnect, we’re giving both developers and agents instant access to an organisation’s entire API ecosystem, resulting in a faster, more seamless experience for developers and a stronger foundation for agentic software development.”
Unifying API and AI development workflows
The integration aims to provide the following key capabilities:
- Unified Access via Konnect Sync: Enables developers to authenticate with their Kong Konnect Personal Access Token (PAT) and gain instant access to all available API and AI endpoints directly in Insomnia, without sifting through outdated documentation or manually importing API specs.
- A Single Source of Truth: Updates in API specifications in Konnect are automatically reflected in Insomnia.
- AI Agent API Access via Insomnia CLI (Coming to Tech Preview): The Command-Line Interface (CLI) enables large language models (LLMs) and autonomous agents to directly access collections, environments, and configurations in Insomnia. This enables enterprises to automate, orchestrate, and enhance API testing using AI without encountering workflow bottlenecks. The CLI produces structured JSON responses that are specifically optimised for LLM parsing, effectively bridging the gap between human-readable interfaces and automated processes.
- Native Git-Powered Version Control: Collections and configurations can now be managed entirely via Git in tandem with CLI, enabling developers to work with their preferred command-line tool.
