Samsung Galaxy XR adds new software update to transform work in the AI era

Samsung Electronics unveils a key software update for Galaxy XR, adding enterprise-ready capabilities through Android Enterprise.  Its latest firmware release enables Android XR to now receive regular software updates, including security patches, for up to five years.

“Our vision for XR extends beyond hardware — it’s about building a secure, scalable ecosystem informed by our users,” said James Choi, EVP and Head of XR R&D Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics.

Android Enterprise Support

Starting with Galaxy XR, Android XR now supports Android Enterprise, bringing enterprise-grade control and efficiency to Galaxy XR. It also aims to provide a scalable foundation for real-world deployments across industries, including training, manufacturing, healthcare, and retail. Samsung Knox on Android Enterprise also offers strict device security.

Features include:

  • Easy device enrollment through Android zero-touch, QR code setup, and Device Policy Controller identifier provisioning simplifies large-scale rollouts.
  • Enterprise app management via Managed Google Play allows easy deployment and updates of XR applications.
  • Core management features include password policies, network configurations, and device security measures such as remote lock or wipe.
  • Hardware protections ensure compliance and safeguard sensitive enterprise data.

New enhancements

The latest Android XR update introduces several enhancements, including:

  • Adjustable virtual keyboard positioning for a personalised experience.
  • Desktop session restore, which reopens up to 3 apps in their original layouts after reboot.
  • Expanded accessibility features like single eye tracking and pointer customisation.
  • Wall panel alignment for precise content placement in users’ spaces.
  • Auto Spatialization in Google Chrome and YouTube for converting 2D content into immersive 3D experiences.
