The software industry in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region is experiencing significant growth at +10.3% in 2024, according to a new report by Forrester, “The State Of The Software Market In Asia Pacific, 2023, APAC”.

Among the challenges of software decision-makers in APAC are a lack of alignment between IT and the business (20%), a lack of coordination between operations technology teams (16%), a lack of executive support (14%), and a lack of business unit alignment (13%).
When it comes to technology, respondents mentioned security challenges (18%), the cost of replacing legacy systems (17%), technical debt diverting resources from innovation (15%), and the inflexibility of existing applications (13%) as major challenges.
APAC respondents say that the execution of their software strategy needs to improve its user training (18%), an inflexible culture (14%), and a lack of relevant internal skills (13%) are among the challenges in the organisational culture and talent space.
IT advances with AI
Frederic Giron, VP, senior research director at Forrester and lead author of the report, says, “Software strategies play a key role in enabling enterprises in Asia Pacific to power high-performance IT. Despite challenges in aligning IT and business objectives, enterprises are prioritising revenue growth, customer expansion, and product development. AI is emerging as a key focus across a variety of software initiatives, highlighting its importance to strategic IT advances.”
