Slack explored the different kinds of personalities in the workplace and their impact on technology and AI adoption. The YouGov survey of over 15,000 desk workers across nine markets revealed 5 workplace personas in Singapore.

Workplace personas

More than a quarter (26%) of Singaporean respondents are “Road Warriors”, those who are skilled at developing connections remotely and virtually and are eager to use modern workplace tools.

Around 21% are “Detectives”, those who are innately driven towards searching for and finding solutions, answers, and information.

“Networkers” comprise 20% of Singaporeans. These types are highly collaborative and engaged – extroverted; love to connect in person; take notes and share them widely, making sure their colleagues are abreast with the latest updates.

The “Problem Solvers” are averse to repetitive tasks; early tech adopters; masters of automation; most likely to go all-in on AI, and make up 20% of respondents.

Lastly, the Expressionists (12%) Strong preference for visual, less formal communication to express themselves and provide clarity – love using emoji, giphy, and memes; fun, witty, clever, and social; don’t take themselves too seriously.

Unique ecosystem

“Whether you have five or 5,000 people, every workplace has a unique ecosystem of personalities, skill sets, and working styles. With Singapore’s culturally diverse workforce, recognising these differences is vital for businesses that want to provide a truly empowering environment for their staff. No two employees work exactly alike, leaders must embrace a flexible management approach and versatile technologies so people can play to their unique strengths at work,” Derek Laney, Slack Technology evangelist, APAC, Salesforce said.
