AI will reshape organisations, governments, software, energy, and workforce models, according to Gartner‘s predictionsfor 2027 and beyond.
Daryl Plummer, distinguished VP Analyst and Gartner fellow, said, “Many of the systems we take for granted today, from public services to software, energy and workforce models, will be fundamentally transformed by AI over the next decade. The most successful organisations will be those that balance innovation with responsibility, building the capabilities needed to manage both the opportunities and the unintended consequences of an AI-driven world.”
AI predictions
Gartner predicts that more than 10 billion autonomous agents, created by individuals, businesses and governments, will increase demand on public services by 2030. This will require governments to modernise infrastructure, identity systems and verification.
Meanwhile, 80% of frontline workers at international companies are expected to be assisted by physical AI, including robots, drones and autonomous vehicles.
AI governance is also expected to evolve, with insurers increasingly influencing corporate AI controls through liability requirements. Most (80%) Global 500 companies could make their CIO or chief AI officer the “Evidence Custodian” responsible for AI accountability by 2030.
Gartner predicts that the next phase of enterprise AI will be less about simply adopting AI and more about managing its costs, infrastructure, risks, energy demands, governance and measurable business value.
