Hermes Logistics Technologies (HLT) is setting an industry benchmark with its latest deployment of a scalable cloud ecosystem. In collaboration with ground handler dnata Singapore, Hermes Logistics Technologies (HLT) has just rolled out their first phase of its digitalisation efforts at Singapore Changi Airport, touted as one of the largest and renowned world class airports.
Singapore had only reopened its borders in October 2021, and this has resulted in initial analysis and design sessions being carried out remotely. Hermes NG is steering all cargo-related operations at the handler’s Singapore base as the first phase of a digitisation programme, with the second phase soon to follow.
dnata Singapore, which specialises in private aviation services employs over 1,800 staff in Singapore, have been in operation over four decades. Aligned with international best practices, the company works closely with airport and government authorities to ensure their ground handling operations comply with international security regulations.
“Since implementation, the Hermes NG Ecosystem has already successfully processed more than 50 million kg of cargo, more than 3,000 flights, 20,000 unit load devices, and 50,000 air waybills at the airport,” said Yuval Baruch, Chief Executive Officer, HLT.
Cloud-based solutions allow streamline processes in real time
Headquartered in the U.K., Hermes uses state-of-the-art technology streamlined processes by reducing handling errors and operational inefficiencies. The system detects and preventing revenue leakage and built in automated processes. This ensures compliance, avoiding SLA failures, yet enabling their customers to make modifications where necessary.
In the first phase, they implemented one of the latest versions of the Hermes 5 Cargo Management System, combining business intelligence with Datalakes solution to tighten its processes. Its cargo tracking functions are also seamlessly integrated with technology partner SpeedCargo’s CargoEye solution. This allows the system to monitor accurate dimensions and images of incoming cargo in real-time, and seamlessly integrates data into existing warehouse management systems.
These combined modules are multi-layered to manage all processes related to physical cargo handling, documentation, special product governance, security, mail, messaging, revenue accounting, and business intelligence. This allows the handler, like Dnata, to build up and break down cargo that on the go with more efficiency in mail handling with less data input, and to automate a myriad of repetitive and time-consuming tasks.
“Our cloud-based solutions not only support our customers to streamline their services, but also the data we collect when matched with machine-learning algorithms provides valuable insights on efficiencies, costs, and new services.” said Yuval Baruch, Chief Executive Officer, Hermes Logistics Technologies
Building on this foundation, phase two of the digitisation programme will include the addition of other NG products, such as NG Landside Management powered by Nallian, integration with SpeedCargo’s CargoMind, and the implementation of modern best practices.
“Going live following a complex project delivered during the Covid pandemic is an unprecedented success and our on-site implementation was the culmination of careful planning and strong collaboration,” said Baruch.
This integration with technology partners’ solutions will form part of HLT’s broader strategy to bring the full benefits of collaboration and data sharing to the global air cargo industry.
Hermes’ NG Ecosystem is now streamlining all cargo handling related processes for more than 80 handlers, airlines, and airport terminals worldwide.
