Algorithmiq successfully ran one of the largest scale error mitigation experiments to date on IBM’s hardware, positioning them, with IBM, as front runners towards achieving the first useful quantum advantage for chemistry.
Error mitigation technique
High error levels are one of the biggest challenges in quantum computing that Aurora, Algorithmiq’s drug discovery platform can address.
Using Algorithmiq's proprietary Tensor Network Error Mitigation (TEM) techniques, IBM together with Trinity College Dublin, carried out an experiment that fully mitigated noise in operations even as circuit depth increased.
Algorithmiq’s error mitigation methods are able to recover the signal in regimes where some previously failed. The measurement overhead significantly improved, proving that it can execute faster computations that usually take years within hours.
Towards quantum utility
Professor Sabrina Maniscalco, co-founder and CEO of Algorithmiq said that the successful experiment validates Algorithmiq’s core error mitigation techniques power. She adds that this will be the start of large-scale experiments on specific use cases demonstrating the path towards quantum utility for commercial applications.
