Deel's latest "Singapore Business Leader Pulse Check: Talent Landscape" survey revealed that 39% of organisations in Singapore still struggle to find the right AI talent. High salary expectations (63%), accurately assessing a candidate's AI capabilities (62%), and a lack of qualified candidates in the local job market (59%) are the top challenges organisations face in hiring AI talent.
Global hiring
The survey also revealed that 49% of business decision-makers are open to hiring AI talent from both Singapore and overseas.
"Global hiring enables companies to find highly specialised skills, including AI talent. This alleviates the pressure of local skill shortages while ensuring Singapore has the right expertise needed to stay competitive at a global level. To do so requires collective effort between public and private sectors to ensure smooth hiring and managing talent locally and internationally," said Karen Ng, Deel's regional head of expansion & market lead in Singapore, Hong Kong, ASEAN, and India.Â
Large Singapore organisations believe global hiring provides access to a broader talent pool (70%), enables them to shape a more diverse organisation (62%), and enables the skills transfer with local employees (58%).
Talent attraction and retention
The survey also revealed that the majority (87%) remain optimistic about Singapore's talent landscape.
Around 90% believe that remote working is relevant to facilitating talent retention (80%), talent attraction (62%), and cost reduction (61%).
