The IDC report, The Adoption of Document Solutions in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan): Document Solutions in a New World, reveals that 48&% organisations surveyed in Asia/Pacific excluding Japan APeJ) have already implemented some form of document solutions to help save cost and increase efficiency as the world begins to transition away from Covid lockdowns.

Keeping to business-as-usual

The importance of adopting document solutions has been key to keeping a business running in the absence of physical human interactions, especially in the past 2 years.

Steve Charbonnier

Employees working from home and supporting business processes were a vital factor, and adopting document solutions such as e-Signature, content management, and other document solutions made it possible to keep things moving as Covid-19 lockdowns caused disruptions forcing organisations to rethink how their business processes should evolve with the changes in the business environment.

According to Steve Charbonnier, research manager, IDC's enterprise content strategies research program, the adoption of modernised cloud-based content services platforms will allow organisations to integrate with collaboration and business process applications to address specific use cases while becoming more digitally resilient.

Adoption trends in Asia-Pacific

In developed countries such as Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, government initiatives have been a significant driver to nudge businesses to adopt document solutions by providing grants to organisations that are taking their first step in adopting these solutions.

Mark Lee

Developing countries on the other hand are seeing challenges and adoption mainly come from industries such as financial and insurance institutions, leading initiatives to reduce dependency on printed documents or processes that rely on physical documents.

“While many of these document solutions have been around for some time, the Covid-19 pandemic in the past 2 years has really fast-tracked the adoption of these solutions and has driven organisations to rethink their long-term business goals which are imperative in staying competitive,’ says Mark Lee, senior market analyst, for imaging, printing, and document solutions group at IDC Asia/Pacific.
