While there was already growing demand for a centralized communications platform, the current health crisis has given enterprises a renewed sense of urgency. The reason for the UCC platform’s demand is that providers can offer multiple means of communicating—calls, voice, video meetings, and enterprise-grade messaging.
Due to the maturity of the UCC market, there are now new demands for unified communications and collaboration (UCC) providers. Enterprises are looking for:
- Providers who have most or all the elements of UCC offered as a bundle.
- Digital work hub providers that focus on work management and are adding UCC capabilities.
- Providers that have national and global delivery capabilities with proven reliability.
“In a world that is more globalized and more virtual, enterprises are looking to have more unified communications capabilities to ensure their ability to get work done–even if associates work remotely,” says CEO of Aragon Research, Jim Lundy.
As an adjunct to this prediction, Aragon Research said automation and productivity are tied together. Video-based meeting providers have been growing in part because they are easier to set up, they are more reliable, and people are more comfortable with the medium.
The Aragon Research Globe for Web and Video Conferencing, 2020 noted that through intelligence and automation, video meetings are becoming more seamless to enhance both employee and customer experiences.
Web and video conferencing focus on regular office work, including meetings, room delivery, webcasts, webinars, and virtual classes.
“Meetings need to have a better experience and leveraging video is a key part of this,” said Lundy. “Aragon feels that meetings are 40% more effective when conducted by video as opposed to voice alone.”
