Tightening supply chain with cloud native platform
EssilorLuxottica, the eyewear and lens maker, reformed its digital processes by streamlining data and tightening workflows through a cloud-based integration platform as a service (iPaaS). This enabled the company to not only automate but expedite order processing with speed to meet higher demand across ASEAN and beyond.
Using the Boomi AtomSphereTM Platform, EssilorLuxottica quickly and easily integrated internal applications and customer orders from a variety of channels in real time. This sped up processing time, improved efficiency which made huge savings.
Cloud native platform to manage supply chain and data integration
Leveraging this platform, the company succeeded in integrating about 10,000 external customers to its business-to-business (B2B) system in 2019. Boomi’s cloud-native platform enabled a transformative improvement amid bottlenecks stemming from the combination of supply chain disruptions and increased on-line demands.
Consequently, running a host of enterprise resource planning systems (ERP), it modernised functions and effectively drove its next generation ordering platform, handling approximately 70,000 to 80,000 orders daily. The company set high benchmarks for success.
To orchestrate such high data payloads, the company ensured that end-to-end order processing would only take under one minute. Any delays would cause a serious backlog in the manufacturing process.
Streamlining, synchronising workflows
It was urgent to unify data formats and integrate all the data between internal applications.
This prompted the company to deploy the Boomi's cloud platform, including its electronic data interchange (EDI), and API Management tools.

The cloud-native, low-code platform helps organisations across all industries connect data applications, streamline workflows, and deliver more integrated customer experiences.
As a pioneer in advanced lens technologies, the company was born out of a merger between Italian eyewear maker Luxottica and French lens manufacturer Essilor, which was established nearly two centuries ago. Today, the company designs, manufactures, and distributes ophthalmic lenses, frames and sunglasses.
"The challenge was to replace all the existing middleware, customised micro-services, and third-party middleware to enable greater data sharing capacities and performance in order to keep up with customer expectations," said Mel Yuson, director of enterprise architecture at EssilorLuxottica AMERA.
As a result of the digital transformation the company was able to simplify file sharing and increase operational efficiency by four times.
Organisations of all sizes in various sectors are under pressure to accelerate transformation to achieve business goals. Boomi's platform and services not only support complex, global systems, making it simpler and more cost effective to scale operations," said Ajit Melarkode, vice president of business development, APJ at Boomi.
