Four in five software development leaders in Asia Pacific (APAC) believe AI agents will become as essential to app development as traditional software tools, according to Salesforce’s latest State of IT report.
Furthermore, the report unveils a promising future, with 70% of developers in the APAC region foreseeing AI agents as a catalyst for accelerating application development.
Low-code/no-code tools
The report revealed that most (86%) developers in APAC using agentic AI currently use low-code/no-code tools.
Empowering the majority of developers in APAC (79%), low-code/no-code tools are seen as a means to democratise and scale AI development (85%).
Building AI agents
There's a clear call to action from many developers in the APAC region (85%) who believe their organisation needs to urgently update its infrastructure to build and deploy AI agents. Additionally, 46% believe their data quality and accuracy aren’t sufficient to develop and implement agentic AI successfully.
Nearly half (45%) of developers say their testing processes aren’t fully prepared to build and deploy AI agents.
Skills gap
Around 80% believe AI knowledge will soon be a baseline skill for their profession, but 51% don’t feel their skill sets are fully prepared for the agentic era. Respondents identify training on technical AI skills and redefining current roles as the most important areas for employers to focus on.

“The impact of AI agents on the industry is undeniable, and the best time for organisations to invest in empowering developers with the right skills, resources, and infrastructure is right now,” said Gavin Barfield, vice president & chief technology officer, Solutions, ASEAN, Salesforce.
The report surveyed over 2,000 software development leaders, including 587 from APAC.
