The annual CIO Report by global technology service provider Logicalis has revealed that even amid rising cybersecurity incidents, chief information officers (CIOs) still struggle to get value from security investments.
The report has shown that over half (53%) of APAC CIOs say their security patch systems have become too complex to manage effectively.
Expanding threat landscape
The report surveyed 1,000 global IT leaders, including more than 300 from Asia Pacific (APAC); 91% of APAC organisations reported enduring cybersecurity incidents in the last 12 months.
Some 53% have experienced multiple breaches, 10% higher than the global average (43%).
Improving cybersecurity
The report also revealed that 45% of APAC CIOs said their organisations have overinvested in unnecessary security solutions. An equal number said they do not derive good value from cybersecurity investments because they underuse all available features of their security tools.
Half of CIOs say they lack access to security solutions that fully fit their business needs, and only 63% are confident in their ability to pinpoint potential security gaps.

Lee Chong-Win, CEO of Logicalis Asia Pacific, said there is a ‘tidal wave’ of demand for cybersecurity services amidst a growing skills gap.”
He advises CIOs to deploy advanced visibility into their infrastructure security and present key security metrics, as cybersecurity is now a board-level issue.
