Manufacturers find AI and machine learning as the top manufacturing technologies to drive business outcomes and ROI, according to the 9th annual “State of Smart Manufacturing Report” by Rockwell Automation, Inc.
Opportunity in APAC
In Asia Pacific, almost half (48%) of manufacturers plan to increase investment in automation, and 44% are introducing AI or ML technologies.
“There is an opportunity for Asia to lead in reframing the human-technology partnership where technology is seen as an enabler, and not a replacement, for more productive and sustainable business outcomes,” said Scott Wooldridge, regional vice president of Asia Pacific at Rockwell Automation.
Smart manufacturing in APAC
The global study on more than 1,500 manufacturers across 17 of the leading manufacturing countries, including China, Japan, India, and South Korea revealed that around 69% of organisations in APAC plan to adopt smart manufacturing within the next 6 to 11 months, growing to 56% from last year. Improved quality is the number one outcome 43% of APAC manufacturers hope to achieve from existing smart manufacturing technology.
Obstacles in manufacturing
The report revealed that “matching technology and talent to business needs” and “effectively managing people and resources” are the major obstacles one-third of organisations expect to face over the next year.
It is vital to select a partner with relevant industry experience that can provide customised solutions in aligning technology and talent with business objectives.
