Job displacement fears
Global search data reflects the tech industry's growing concern about AI's potential to automate tasks traditionally performed by professionals.
The most heavily searched AI replacement question is: "Will AI replace programmers?" (5,100 monthly enquiries). "AI programmer" amassed an average of2,800 monthly searches. Of the ranking careers, programming is the only industry expecting negative employment growth (10% decline in the states by 2033).
Software developers are also concerned about AI's impact on the workforce, with "Will AI replace software developers" amassing 2,500 monthly enquiries. "AI software developer" amasses around 6,200 global monthly searches. Despite the concern, Forbes predictsa 26% increase in employment from 2023 to 2033.
Despite the high fear of job displacement, tech sectors like data science (+36%) and cybersecurity (+33%) are set for significant growth.
"AI artists"are the most sought-after alternatives, with 271,000 searches. Fortunately, the US Bureau of Labour Statistics predicts a 3% growth for the sector.
