GoTo Group, a digital ecosystem in Indonesia, and Alibaba Cloud have announced the successful migration of the infrastructure of GoTo Financial, the group's digital finance arm, to Alibaba Cloud's data centres in Jakarta, Indonesia. This strategic partnership aims to streamline operations, reduce costs, and improve the service efficiency of GoTo Financial's payment solution, GoPay.

Patrick Walujo, GoTo Group CEO, said: "By completing this migration with Alibaba Cloud, we've strengthened the core infrastructure that underpins GoTo Financial's services. The transition also reinforces our commitment to Indonesia's data sovereignty, with all data being held within Indonesia."

"This successful migration shows how Alibaba Cloud's technologies can support large-scale digital transformation. We're proud to work with GoTo in shaping Indonesia's digital future and look forward to deepening our partnership," Sean Yuan, regional general manager, South Pacific & Japan, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence, said.
Complex cloud migration
The move entailed a significant task of transferring GoTo Financial's core applications to Alibaba Cloud to address extremely high system stability demands and handle a large number of concurrent transactions for over 20 million monthly transacting users.
Alibaba Cloud and GoTo teams collaborated closely to develop a full-stack technical solution, ensuring a smooth migration, business continuity, and a seamless, non-disruptive user experience. The teams have also adopted a 'dual-core' architecture. This strategy involves gradually migrating traffic to Alibaba Cloud, ensuring the system remains operational and the user experience is not disrupted during the transition. Alibaba Cloud has provided products and tools to enable GoTo to achieve 100% Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment.

Alibaba Cloud's three data centres in Indonesia, along with its computing, container, database, networking, and security offerings, supported GoTo in building a cloud infrastructure with optimal cost efficiency.
