Maya is extending its partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) through its support for Batang Pinoy 2025, a grassroots sports program for young athletes in the Philippines. The extended partnership entails Maya helping participants easily onboard to their own financial accounts and introducing them to simple, secure digital banking tools.

“Supporting PSC’s grassroots programs allows us to engage with the sports community in a meaningful way,” said Shailesh Baidwan, Maya Group president and Maya Bank Co-founder. “Batang Pinoy gives us a great opportunity to connect with young athletes and help them take their first steps toward digital financial access.”
Modernised financial services
Maya and PSC earlier collaborated to modernise sports governance and promote financial access in the Philippines. This was achieved by digitising the process of allowance distribution for national athletes. Instead of the traditional manual disbursements, which were often time-consuming and less secure, Maya introduced a faster and more secure method of allowance distribution.

“We’re grateful for Maya’s continued support for Batang Pinoy. By enabling the electronic distribution of allowances, Maya helps us provide our athletes and delegates with a faster, safer and more convenient experience—so they can focus on what matters most: competing and growing,” said PSC chairman John Patrick Gregorio.
This year’s edition of Batang Pinoy gathers over 15,000 young athletes from across the country in General Santos City from October 25 to 30 to compete in 27 sports disciplines. The partnership aims to help young athletes secure easy-to-use financial services as part of PSC’s broader digital transformation vision and Maya’s mission to enhance inclusivity in financial services.
