Slingshot’s 2024 Digital Work Trends Report reveals that most employees feel disconnected from their company’s goals. The report underscores a significant disconnect between employees’ awareness of company goals and employers’ effectiveness in communicating them.
The report reveals that only 23%of employees feel educated about their company’s goals, despite 84% of employers believing they effectively communicate them. The disconnect leaves employees unsure of how their efforts at work contribute to their company’s overall objectives.
Dean Guida, founder of Slingshot, highlights the consequences of this disconnect: “When employees don’t have insight into their company’s goals, they’re largely unaware of how their daily work fits into the bigger picture of the company, which can cause them to feel unmotivated, confused about priorities and unproductive."
Transparency
The report also suggests a potential solution: increased transparency. It found that 51% of employees believe that a clearer understanding of the company’s goals, achieved through increased transparency, would help them better manage their workload.
Productivity barriers
The report underscored other barriers to productivity, including digital fatigue, app overload, uneven work distribution, and expectations for after-hours availability.
“The key to boosting productivity within any organisation is to connect employees to their work and the business, support and guide employees with everything they do, and foster an environment for them to innovate continuously,” said Guida.
