A new Ericsson ConsumerLab study shows that Generative AI (GenAI) applications emerge as a significant area driving interest in differentiated connectivity among 5G smartphone users globally.
Willing to pay
The study "Elevating 5G with Differentiated Connectivity" found that 71% of 5G smartphone users in Singapore are expected to use GenAI weekly in the next 5 years.
Moreover, 21% of 5G smartphone users in Singapore actively seek elevated connectivity for critical applications and are willing to pay for it.
The study also revealed that 33% of 5G users in Singapore are open to paying more for differentiated connectivity that guarantees better performance for essential apps.
Additionally, one in six current GenAI users in Singapore will pay 35% more for differentiated connectivity to ensure AI-driven applications' fast and responsive performance.
"Even as the research shows that the share of 5G users satisfied with network performance in Singapore has grown from 28% in 2023 to 34% in 2024, 1 in 3 5G smartphone users in Singapore say they would be interested in paying for differentiated connectivity for essential applications," Daniel Ode, head of Singapore, Philippines, and Brunei at Ericsson says.
