Workday unveils new system to manage AI agents

Workday, Inc., has unveiled the Workday Agent System of Record to help organisations manage their entire fleet of AI agents in one place. The system claims to provide the essential tools to help organisations effectively govern, manage, and optimise their digital workforce.

The Agent System of Record ensures a seamless onboarding process for new AI agents, guaranteeing secure and efficient integration. By defining their roles and responsibilities, tracking their impact, budgeting and forecasting their costs, supporting compliance, and fostering continuous improvement, the system simplifies the management of the digital workforce.

“The workforce of the future will include both humans and AI agents, and businesses that don’t learn to manage this incredibly complex reality will fall quickly behind,” said Aneel Bhusri, co-founder and executive chair of Workday.

Our deep understanding of human skills and roles naturally extends to managing digital labour. The future is here, and just like with the transition to the cloud, we’re ready to help our customers get there first,” said Bhusri.

Agent System of Record

The Agent System of Record claims to enable organisations to leverage AI agents while maintaining centralised control, governance, and visibility. 

The solution offers a range of benefits, including centralised management, streamlined agent onboarding, and effective cost management, making it an attractive proposition for organisations.

The system also provides real-time operational visibility, empowering users with the information they need to make informed decisions and maintain control over their digital workforce.

New role-based agents

Customers can also quickly deploy and manage new role-based AI agents through the Agent System of Record. Workday’s role-based agents contain a configurable set of ‘skills’ and can perform hundreds of individual tasks. New Workday agents announced today include contract, payroll, financial auditing, and policy agents.
