Adobe has made a significant stride in the digital media landscape with the release of the Firefly Video Model in a public beta. This model, touted as the only IP-friendly and commercially safe generative AI model, is designed with the user's comfort and safety in mind.
Adobe emphasises ethical AI development, ensuring Firefly is trained solely on licensed content, such as Adobe Stock and public domain images. Additionally, AI-generated content includes Content Credentials, allowing consumers to verify its origin.

"Firefly is designed for creative professionals looking for unmatched creative control and IP-friendly tools that can be used safely and effectively in production," said David Wadhwani, president of Adobe's digital media business.

The Firefly Video Model, the powerhouse behind the Generate Video (beta), offers a plethora of possibilities. The Firefly Video Model enables text-to-video and image-to-video generation, allowing users to create cinematic sequences with professional-grade camera angles, transform 3D sketches into high-quality images, and design motion graphics with precise control.
It supports 1080p resolution with a lower-resolution ideation model for high-speed iteration. Soon, it will include a 4K model for pro-level production work.
Firefly web application
Adobe has also unveiled new Firefly Standard ($9.99/month) and Firefly Pro ($29.99/month), which provide options for users with different needs and budgets. Both include access to the new Firefly web application, a tool for creative professionals to generate images, videos, and more.
Adobe's creative apps also allow users to refine their work with Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Adobe Express. With Adobe Firefly, users can seamlessly transition from ideation to production, controlling camera angles and cinematic movement before moving to Adobe Creative Cloud applications. They can also maximise Firefly-powered features such as Generative Fill in Photoshop and Generative Remove in Lightroom to edit photos, enhancing their creative process.
"We've been thrilled to hear from beta customers who've found it a game-changer for ideating concepts and producing stunning videos, and we can't wait to see how the creative community uses it to bring their stories to the world," Wadhwani said.
