Beonic and Adelaide Airport (ADL) have expanded their partnership to improve performance in the airport’s international terminal using Beonic’s AI-powered LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology.
This solution provides real-time insights into passenger flow, queue performance, and wait times, thereby enhancing airport management, even in private and sensitive areas such as immigration halls.

“As demand rises and traveller expectations evolve, Beonic is helping Adelaide Airport to focus on optimising the performance of key processing areas “, said Billy Tucker, CEO of Beonic. “Our AI-powered platform provides the critical insights that will allow the airport to reduce bottlenecks, improve staffing decisions, and enhance the overall passenger experience.”
AI-powered LiDAR technology
Beonic’s AI-powered LiDAR technology can capture a 3D point cloud of the terminal environment for accurate, real-time analytics. It also claims to provide detailed insights across metrics, including queue occupancy and overflow, passenger throughput rates, and wait times through emigration, immigration, and baggage reclaim, without capturing personally identifiable information.

“When you’re responsible for the smooth movement of thousands of people each day, you need more than assumptions - you need live data,” said Ben Leitis, head of Terminal Operations at Adelaide Airport.
Leitis added: “Beonic’s technology gives our airport the visibility to make operational decisions with confidence based on real-time information. It empowers our team to make fast, informed decisions to manage flow in real time, keep queues moving, and maintain a seamless experience our travellers expect, even when conditions shift.”
