A recent Vodafone Business study revealed that 51% of Asia Pacific (APAC) companies have adopted Generative AI, with Singapore emerging as the global leader (59%).
It also showed that most (70%) of APAC companies report rising budgets for digital transformation in 2024, up from 60% in 2023.
However, over half (65%) of APAC businesses are concerned that technologies like AI can negatively impact customer confidence, with 57% concerned about customer privacy concerns around personal data (57%).
Customer trust
The study revealed that more than 60% of customers in APAC trust organisations the same or even more when Gen AI is used, while 39% of APAC customers say that the use of Gen AI would make them trust an organisation less.
“As businesses in the APAC region rapidly embrace AI and other emerging technologies, the key to long-term success is building and maintaining customer trust. To bridge this gap, businesses must humanly use technology and prioritise transparency, fairness, and robust data protection measures,” said Bhupinder Singh, president of Vodafone Business, Asia-Pacific and Middle East.
Fit for the future
Singh highlighted the importance of investing in robust digital infrastructure, advanced networks, and comprehensive security solutions to gain trust.
“These foundational elements will support the seamless adoption of emerging technologies, ensuring that businesses are well-prepared and ‘Fit for the Future,” he added.
The study was developed in partnership with the London School of Economics and includes more than 760 business and 1760 customer respondents from Singapore, China, India, and Australia.
