Half of Hong Kong employees (51%) are open to using AI in the workplace for writing, personal assistance, and internal support according to new research released by Qualtrics. Compared to the 42% global average, Hong Kong workers are among some of the most open to AI globally.
Responses from nearly 37,000 employees globally, including over 1,000 in Hong Kong, reveal that workers prefer AI when they have a sense of control over it than when it is used to make decisions about them.
They are more comfortable with AI in the workplace for writing tasks (67%), as a personal assistant (64%), and contacting support functions (58%) but less comfortable in performance evaluations (44%), and hiring decisions (36%).
Optimal employee experience
Results also reveal that employee engagement among workers remained at 56% (compared to 68% globally), intending to stay at 61% (65% globally), while well-being is at 65% (compared to 72% globally) reinforcing the need for organisations to focus more on people-centricity.
“As economies focus on improving productivity, employee experience is one of the most important levers to prioritise in Hong Kong and across the region. There is a well-established connection between employee engagement and organisational performance - from innovation and profitability to better customer service and employee health outcomes. Organisations that maintain their people-centric focus, and effectively enable their teams to do great work, will be the standout performers in years to come,” said Dr. Cecelia Herbert, principal XM catalyst at Qualtrics XM Institute.
